Outdoor learning at St Luke’s CofE Primary School engages every child in our amazing grounds. They have opportunities to learn through experience in a vibrant, diverse, natural outdoor setting. They work in a practical way to develop their self esteem and confidence, fostering a sense of awe, wonder and respect for the natural world.
We are very fortunate to have dedicated volunteers who give their time to work with every child in the school’s garden. Children are able to learn to grow and care for a range of plants and vegetables as they develop a clear understanding of plant life cycles and seasonal changes.
We have Forest School trained staff at St Luke’s CofE Primary School and we are also training one of our amazing volunteers as well. With such extensive outside space, including wooded areas, the school plans to develop Forest School provision dramatically in 2021, linking it closely with the existing gardening provision, to create an enviable ‘outside learning’ offer to all children.
