On this page you will find a daily update (also emailed to you), a weekly plan and links to the resources you will need to support you and your child with their remote education. All resources have been sent to you by email and Class Dojo.

Daily email communication

Dear Parents/Carers of Willow Class,

Please see below the remote learning support for Friday 5th March. As you will see the day is split into live teaching via Zoom and independent tasks. Please click the Zoom link at the specified times to take part in the live teaching. Attached to this email are any supporting resources your child might like to use.

Reading

Your child is invited to take part in our live teaching of this session. Please follow the below Zoom link to join us at 9.10.

 

This session is expected to last around 20 minutes. Your child can then do the independent tasks.

LO: to write an accurate sentence.

Success Criteria: to use capital letter and finger spaces. To include sequencing words.

For the independent task the children will write instructions for the tooth fairy on how to collect children’s teeth. They should try write three sentences, making sure to use sequencing words in each instruction.

The attached resource to help your child with this lesson is the English PowerPoint and the Calendar Template. For this lesson your child will need paper and a pencil.

You can read any books you have at home with the children and talk about them and can use the link below for books online.

Maths

This session will be taught through an online video and worksheet.

LO: to measure length

Success Criteria: to be able to measure length with non-standard units of measure.

You will be sent a link of a video teaching the maths content for that day, which will include mini tasks which you can engage in by pausing the video and answering the questions.

The independent work the children can do is an activity. The children should pick a room in their house and then measure the length of the room, counting in footsteps. They should then draw a map of the room labelling each wall with its length in footsteps.

The attached resource to help your child with this lesson is the Extension Questions and the Maths Worksheet. For this lesson your child will need a pencil and paper.

Phonics

Your child is invited to take part in our live teaching of this session. Please follow the below Zoom link to join us at 11.15.

 

This session is expected to last around 30 minutes. Your child can then do the independent tasks.

LO: to write revise the ph sound

Success Criteria: to be able to read and write words with ph sounds in them.

During this Zoom session the children will be writing words and reading them, and they will need paper and a pencil.

For the independent task the children should draw a picture of the phonics fairy and write a magical phonics spell for her to cast with her magic wand.

Art

This session will be taught through an independent activity.

LO: To connect music and colour.

Success Criteria: To connect music and colours together. To create an image of imagined colours in the sky.

For the children’s independent task, they should play their favourite music or song, look up and close their eyes. Then imagine the sky above them is changing colours to the sounds they are listening to. Then they should open their eyes and create an image

of the colourful sky. They can use pencil, paints, felt-tips or cut out bits of paper.

The attached resource to help your child with this lesson is the Art PowerPoint. For this lesson your child will need paper and coloured pencils or crayons or paint.
