On this page you will find a daily update (also emailed to you), a weekly plan and links to the resources you will need to support you and your child with their remote education. All resources have been sent by email and Class Dojo.

Dear Maple Class Parents/Carers

Please see attached the remote learning support for Monday 18th January. As you will see the day is split into live teaching via Zoom and independent tasks. Please click the Zoom link at the specified times to take part in the live teaching. Attached to this email are any supporting resources your child might like to use.

Daily Challenge

This is an independent task that you can complete to get you thinking.  This should take no more than 10 minutes.

For today’s challenge write down a few sentences explaining where you would like to be in ten years.

English

LO: To evaluate the effect of language choices.

This session is expected to last around 30 minutes. Your child can then do the independent tasks.

In today’s lesson we will be recapping the relationship between image and dialogue and evaluating the effect of language choices.

For your independent task you will be generating ideas for your own inner courtyard which will support your writing.  Your initial ideas might be extremely positive and colourful.

Mathematics

LO: To multiply 4 digits by 2 digits. 

Recourses required:

  1. Multiply 4 digits by 2 digits Teaching Video.
  2. Maths Multiply 4 digits by 2 digits worksheet.
  3. Reasoning and Problem Solving worksheet.

This session is expected to last around 20 minutes. Your child can then do the independent tasks.

Watch the teaching video pausing at the appropriate times to practice the questions.

Once you have done that, I would like you to complete questions on the White Rose worksheet.

If you finish those please then have a go at the reasoning and problem solving questions.

Spelling

LO: To practice spelling strategies 

This is an independent lesson the children can complete and should take no more than 20 minutes.

In this lesson you will be practicing some useful spelling strategies to help you learn curriculum some words.

LO: To apply your knowledge of pace and tension.

This session is expected to last around 30 minutes. Your child can then do the independent tasks.

In the last lesson we looked at the ways in which authors created pace and tension for the reader.  We discussed the choice of vocabulary and sentence structure amongst other techniques.

For your independent task, you are going to apply these strategies to your own writing using the visual stimulus provided.

PE

LO: To improve your cardio and stamina

This session is expected to last around 30 minutes.

 

Choose one of the PE with Joe Wicks videos to help you build your cardio and stamina.

Please remember to go at a pace that is comfortable for you.

After you have finished you may wish to play some calming music and sit or lie quietly to focus your breathing and calm the body.
